Back in Calgary
This expedition is definitely sort of wobbly. Our plans for this second week have shifted again. We are now planning on following the TransCanada Highway all the way to Northern Ontario were we will hang a sharpish right and shuttle ourselves south and home. Yesterday we spent another beautiful day on Vancouver Island. We enjoyed the sights and rains of Victoria, visited the BC Museum (complete with a tour of the visiting Titanic exhibit) and ate at a subpar deli before enjoying a stunning sunset ferry back to the mainland. We didn’t get a chance to visit Vancouver at all, but we had a full, and worthwhile weekend and will have to return sometime. Today was a travel day through BC and we made excellent time. I guess every day from now on will be travel days. I think we are mentally prepared now though… although physically we are both pretty spent. We even stopped in Banff for a brief hour. The place is really not very lovely right now. All the streets are torn up as they work on some infrastructure improvements. Really ugly stuff actually. .. (pictures? soon).
By the time this is posted we may be in Saskatchewan or Manitoba… or possibly even back home. The idea is to get home early in the weekend so we can have time to rest and re-energize for the upcoming work week. It will be good to visit with people at Rawdon this weekend too, and hopefully see Tara and Shawn’s new baby, Hayden something something Erb.
The weather theatened rain again when we arrived at the campsite today. There were even reports on the radio of hail and tornado sightings around the area. But now everything seems to have calmed. The skies east look somewhat serene. The mountains are behind us. The prairies and home ahead of us. We are soon coming!
